Opportunities
for At-Risk, Special Needs Students
Voyager strives for for diversity and balance. It is not a school for “rich kids” or for “poor kids. It is
not a school for “smart kids” or for “special education” kids. It is not a school for “locals,” or for
“immigrants,” or for any particular group. It is a school for all children whose parents recognize the
powerful potential of the principle of unity in diversity. Just as our state is enriched and strengthened
by the fact that no racial or ethnic group has a numerical majority, likewise Voyager seeks an enrollment
pattern where no particular category of student dominates numerically.
If student applicants have an open IEP (individualized Education Plan), Voyager staff members will meet with
the family and members of the student’s home-school. Acceptance will be based on the decision of the team,
subject to Voyager School having adequate resources to meet the child’s educational needs. |
