Opportunities to Teach in Ideal School

Working at Voyager provides opportunities for professional growth, intellectual exchange, and ongoing learning . No matter what your position, you will have the chance to positively influence students so that, no matter what their background or situation, they can thrive educationally and personally.

Voyager currently has grades Kindergarten through eighth grade. Although teachers negotiate a separate contract with the Voyager Local School Board, they are members of HSTA and enjoy the same benefits as DOE teachers. The Voyager salary scale is slightly higher than the current DOE salary scale.

Additionally, Voyager offers a chance to have a real impact on students with less restrictions and bureaucracy than what is often present in other schools. Our curriculum emphasizes student involvement in setting classroom purpose, monitoring quality and progress, and setting goals for improvement. The variety of teaching/learning approaches ensures that students will be stimulated, enriched, and will grow into responsible, self-managing people right before your eyes.

The teamwork in our school is also exceptional. We believe in optimization of results, which means that all parts of the school need to support one another vs. compete for resources or recognition. We work together to build the interdisciplinary curriculum, build in the languages and arts into all aspects of the program, and learn together about what is working and what needs refining. There is teacher representation on the Voyager School Board, so the views of all teachers are included in decisions that influence the school.

Finally, you will have ongoing chances to grow personally and professionally while at Voyager. We believe in ongoing learning for all people in our community. If you ever wished that your own continuing learning were emphasized more, Voyager is the place for you.
